Monash University is seeking Chinese-Australian and other participants for a research project that explores inter-cultural relationships in Australia.

This research aims to explore how differences in life experiences and identity shape attitudes towards and experiences of intimate intercultural relationships among a range of cultural groups in Australia.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

Participate in a 1 HOUR INTERVIEW. The interview will cover: life experiences, identity, the attitudes of family, friends, and community towards intercultural relationships.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

People who:

–       Identify as coming from a second generation or higher Chinese background who are in a relationship with Anglo/European Australians, OR

–       Anglo European Australians who are in a relationship with a person who is Australian born and of second generation or higher Chinese   background

–       Are between the ages of 25 – 34 years

–       Were born in Australia (second or higher generation)

–       Are single or in any relationship status (such as dating, in a de-facto partnership, or married)

–       Lives in Victoria, Australia

A $100 PREZZEE GIFT VOUCHER will be provided to participants upon completion of the interview as a token of appreciation for their time and contribution to the project.

ABC has launched a lecture series (named The Wang Gungwu Lecture – 王赓武讲座) to celebrate the contribution made by Chinese Australians to Australia.

Chinese Community Roundtable – Reflections on Federal Election 2022

Time: Sunday 3 July 2022, 1:30PM for 2:00-4:00PM.

Venue: RMIT Council Chambers, Room 01.02.17. Building 1, 124 La Trobe St. Melbourne.

Purpose: To reflect upon how the Chinese community thought and reacted in the Federal Election 2022, to discuss the issues facing the community in the forthcoming State election.

Chinese women needed for health survey

The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health is looking for Chinese women to complete their health survey. This could help make a difference to health guidelines, policies and services that support Chinese communities. Everyone who completes the survey by 5pm (AEST) Monday 5 December 2022 will have a chance to win a $1000 Pressee Smart eGift card.

The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health. It is a collaborative project conducted by staff and investigators at the University of Newcastle and the University of Queensland.

AMEP (Adult Migrant English Program) is seeking volunteer tutors (including Chinese speaking volunteer tutors) to support others in the community to enhance their learning.

The AMEP is a Government initiated English program, supporting refugees and migrants living in Australia from various countries (including Chinese speaking origin) to learn English and learn more about Australian culture, to ensure they become part of the Australian community. The Volunteer Tutor Scheme (VTS) offers support by matching an eligible AMEP learner with a trained volunteer tutor, 1-2 hours a week.
