Support the Uluru Statement from the Heart
During the NAIDOC Week 2022 at the meeting on Wednesday 6th July, CCCAV Committee resolved to fully support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, which calls for the establishment of a First Nations Voice in the Constitution and a Makarrata Commission to “supervise a process of agreement-making between governments and First Nations and truth-telling about our history.”
We support the call for the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Australian Constitution and for a referendum to amend the Constitution accordingly, and a Makarrata Commission for agreement-making and truth-telling between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and governments.
CCCAV now calls on all Chinese-Australian organisations and fellow Chinese Australians to support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, to join the national dialogue to make a First Nations Voice be heard in the Australian Parliament and be protected in the Australian Constitution. We can make a difference by supporting the Uluru Statement from the Heart and working together with all Australians for a better future.
